The first Forum of Spanish Universities in Morocco was hosted in Casablanca Morocco, with the participation of twenty-two public and private Spanish universities.
The event was inaugurated by the Spanish Ambassador in Rabat, Ricardo Diez-Hochleitner Rodriguez. According to the organizers, the first Forum of Spanish Universities in Morocco is intended as a meeting place and exchange of information between Spanish universities and Moroccan students wishing to achieve or continue their higher education in Spain.
The speaker, Spanish Ambassador, emphasized that the meeting that was introduced by the Spanish Embassy in Morocco and the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE), brings together representatives from twenty-two universities in order to inform and share the programs and services of the higher education institutions to students with a Moroccan baccalauréat. Moreover, they already have reached to 5,000 Moroccan students in Spain, and they intend to reinforce the presence of Moroccan students in the Spanish university because of the geographical proximity between the Kingdom Morocco and Spain as well as the condition of the relations between the two countries.
The forum will give the support needed by the Moroccan students in Spain. It will give them more opportunities to secure a job after their studies. The partnership of Spain and Morocco to improve each other’s education sector will positively affect their employment rate. Casablanca city will also benefit from this relationship as it is the city where most schools are to be found.
Embracing the excellent bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, the participating institutions in the forum will undoubtedly contribute in boosting exchange and sharing between the two countries in the field of training and education especially in higher education. Renowned universities represented in the Forum, notably the Spanish schools, both public and private, offer excellent training regarding quality in various fields and one of these institutions is the Polytechnic University of Barcelona.
The Ambassador of Spain invited Moroccan students, and their parents participate in the two-day forum to learn more about the offers of Spanish universities. As per the director of SEPIE, the internationalization of Spanish universities is a priority for the government, adding to this agenda is the reason why SEPIE recently launched a series of “Initiatives and forums aimed at endorsing the Spanish academic programs and facilities abroad, including this Forum in Casablanca. .SEPIE which was founded in 2015, seeks to complement the Spanish universities in the process of internationalization.
In the same note, the secretary-general of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training, stated that the Meeting is fusing the cooperative relations between Morocco and Spain in several sectors, mostly in the field of higher education.
He further said that the opening of Spanish universities to Morocco proves the outstanding relationship between the Moroccan and Spanish schools. The presidents and heads of the universities in both countries meet recurrently by organizing conferences that are hosting Morocco and Spain to talk over different and efficient ways of strengthening exchange and involvement in higher education. Spain is well-known for the quality of its services and programs in higher education and has many internationally renowned universities.
In this regard, these interactions and commitment will only reinforce the opening of the national education of Morocco on its international environment.
